How to Overcome Common Excuses

We all have made an excuse for why we can’t achieve our fitness goals. However, when we look in the mirror, we know there are some things in our control. So we are going to pick apart some common excuses.

Excuse 1: “I don’t have time.”

  • You have to make time for anything important in your life.

  • My screen time was 4 hours last week. I apparently had time to play on my phone for 4 hours a day, but can’t make time for a 30 minute workout?

  • Don’t get me wrong, I know that there are busy seasons of life and time can be scarce, but you still ultimately can choose to use some of the time for you.

  • Even if it's a little here or a little there, you can do something.

Excuse 2: “I can’t do it” or “I just can’t lose weight”

  • Are you actually trying? I know this sounds sassy, but are you actually accurately counting your calories and doing your workouts?

  • Am I intuitive eating, even though that is the thing that got me in this position to begin with?

  • What if we went all in and gave it our best effort by actually logging our food and staying within our calorie budget?

  • What if  we do the weights actually prescribed by our coaches and trainers?

  • If we fully lock in to the program, maybe we can have results.

Excuse 3: “I don’t know what I am doing.”

  • We have you covered here. Online personal trainers make your programming so that you aren’t in the dark. They can coach you and teach you so that you are confident on your own.

  • There are also apps and other resources more available now than ever.

    • Lose It (we are not sponsored by them) is a great app for logging food that also has a barcode scanner available in the free version.

  • YouTube also has videos that help you to learn proper technique on a multitude of exercises.

  • You got this!

Excuse 4: “I can’t afford it”

  • You can get a lot done with a good pair of sneakers and a plan.

  • Fitness is not as expensive as you may think. Some programming is more on the expensive side, but not everything is. There are free resources online to get you started, and then more expensive programming can come later. You don’t need a ton of money to start.

  • Walking and jogging are free, and my dog definitely reminds me when I need to take her out to run or walk.

  • We are also self aware enough to know that personal training isn’t cheap, but we think you are also worth it.

How bad do you want this? If your health and fitness goals matter to you enough, you will be able to achieve them. We believe in you!
